Christmas Tree Jello!

Christmas Tree Jello!

Only 12 days until Christmas, let the countdown begin! This week were keeping it festive with our Mini Chef Mondays post and making a yummy and easy dessert thats also a fun Christmas activity to do with your kids.  We made Christmas tree jello and it couldnt be easier!  Read on for all the details.
Christmas Tree Jello

You will need:
  • 2 boxes of green Jello (or 1 box yellow, 1 box blue)
  • 2 1/2 cups of boiling water (no cold water needed)
  • A round pie pan
  • Fruit for decorating- we use bananas and blueberries. Strawberries would be perfect, too!

1. Make the jello by mixing the jello poweder with the boiling water.  Stir until fully dissolved.  Pour jello into a round pan and transfer to the fridge to set, at least 3 hours.

2. While you wait, you can prepare the fruit by cutting it up.  We used a tiny star cookie cutter to make star shapes out of banana slices to top our trees with!

3. Once the jello is cool, slice into triangles, like a pizza, to make your Christmas tree shapes!

4. Carefully transfer the jello trees to a plate and start decorating.

This isnt exactly an in-depth cooking experience, but it is fun and festive and a great activity to enjoy together!  You can let your kids help you with whichever steps you feel comfortable with them doing in this recipe.  Just a note about the color- lime jello is very lime green color to me.  We used 1 box of yellow and 1 box of blue jello and I love how to color turned out more of an emerald than if we had used lime flavored jello.

Enjoy!
